Fry Biscuits

These homemade biscuits are made and then fried in a skillet on top of the stove in butter. These are great for nights when you don't have time to fix hot rolls.

  1. Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Add water and mix until a soft dough forms
  3. Turn dough out onto a floured cutting board and kneed the dough a couple of times until smooth and elastic.
  4. Pat into a circle approximately a half an inch thick.
  5. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter of desired size.
  6. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in skillet over medium heat.
  7. Place half of the biscuits into the pan and cook until golden brown on one side. Then flip over and cook the other side until golden brown.
  8. Place in a warm oven and cook the remaining biscuits in the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter.
  9. Watch your biscuits carefully as they will brown very quickly and can burn.
  10. Serve with butter and jelly if desired.
